Applied Research Grant Program

Guidelines

In 2007- 2008, ICCD will support a limited number of research projects related to Gravitational Leadership. We are interested in research on one or more of our 4 competency areas: Core (Communication, Collaboration, Professionalism and Ethics), Advocacy, Resource Development, and Organizational Integrity, or on an overall competency-based approach to leadership development.

Grants will generally not exceed $5000 for one-year projects.

Examples of fundable projects:
  • A comparison of trustees' and presidents' perceptions of the community college leadership competencies
  • A case study of a campus based leadership academy that uses ICCD'S 360º competency assessment

Grants are awarded to faculty and staff who most effectively propose studies that contain explicit goals to use the findings to inform the decision-making of ICCD and community college leaders.

If you have a project that meets these criteria, please e-mail a 1-2 page letter that addresses how this project will contribute to community college leadership development to Barbara Viniar, Executive Director, ICCD, Barbara.Viniar@cornell.edu. The letter should briefly describe the project goals, activities, budget and projected outcomes or product.  Please provide complete contact information. *

If your project meets ICCD's priority areas you will be asked to provide a more detailed proposal and budget.

Awards will be made on an ongoing basis as proposals are received and approved. ICCD expects its awards for 2007-08 to total $15-$20,000.

*Grants may be used to support dissertation research and related expenses such as mailings, surveys and travel, but may not be used for tuition or fees.  Dissertation support will not exceed $2500.
