9:00-10:15  Welcome and Keynote, Stewart Brower
                   "Teaching the Millennials"

The Millennial generation has been called the "most numerous, affluent, and ethnically diverse generation in American history." They can also be one of the most demanding generations to teach, with a strong sense of self-identity and entitlement that can impede more traditional teaching modalities.  Technology-savvy, goal-oriented Millennials place a premium on their college experiences, and college professors and other academic leaders are beginning to discover new ways of motivating these students.

Keynote speaker Stewart Brower, Coordinator of Information Management Education at the University of Buffalo Health Science Library, will help us examine our shared experiences as both parents and teachers of the Millennials, touching on their strengths and weaknesses as learners, and suggesting methods of instruction that most appeal to them.
