in Higher Education – John Cusack
The interaction of the environment, climate
change and energy issues is a major
financially-material issue for higher
education. Cost savings are possible from
being more efficient in resource use,
and sustainable management can lead to
risk management benefits.
9:30 – 10:30 The Triple Bottom Line of Sustainability
Clay Nesler
To succeed long term, investments need to
be made in the organization as well as in
the environment and people. Sustainability
initiatives help ensure that the resources
and people needed to grow for generations
to come are available.
10:30 – 11:30 Conversion to Green Cleaning Materials
Mark Blaire
Eliminating cleaning agents containing
hazardous ingredients and replacing them
with non-toxic products that utilize natural
ingredients preserves the environment.
Green cleaning reduces toxicity, waste,
storage space and cleaning costs.
11:30 – 12:30 Green Purchasing – Kevin Lyons.
Green purchasing includes the acquisition
of recycled content products, environment-
ally preferable products and services, bio-
based products, energy- and water-efficient
products, alternate fuel vehicles and
products using renewable energy.
12:30 – 1:30 Working lunch
1:30 – 3:30 Problem Solving Work Groups
There will be an opportunity for small
groups to meet with each of the panelists
and others in the audience in order to
elicit suggestions and action steps that will
make it possible to bring solutions back
to the campus.
