The Writer's Institute

(Custom program)

The Writer's Institute is a year-long custom program which began in April 2006, developed by ICCD for Blue Ridge Community College in North Carolina. The goal of this program is to develop a culture of publishing among the faculty and administrators at the college.

A progression of workshops has been designed to:

  • yield, by April 2007, a group of publishable pieces by faculty members; and
  • create a community of Blue Ridge writers who can carry on and use their experiences to help others develop their writing and publishing practice.

The program has been planned in five phases and has been conducted via web-based video, emails, and phone conversations between the campuses of Cornell University and Blue Ridge Community College.

For more information about forming a Writer's Institute on your community college campus, contact Lee Riddell, ICCD Assistant Director, by email or at (607) 254-8260.

Writer's Institute is a Core Skills program, part of ICCD's Gravitational Leadership program.
